Playoffs?!

Posted by | Madison | in Playoffs

Yes, Jim Sr, the playoffs start on Saturday and we are going to talk about them.  If we revisit our pre-season predictions, some of us (Alikat and CJ) did better than others (me). But hell if that’s going to stop me from previewing the slate of Wild Card games that start on Saturday.

Saturday:

Washington (9-7) at Seattle (10-6), 4:30 EST: I’ve said it before and I will say it again - I think Seattle is heartless. And I don’t mean “heartless” in the “ruthless” way, I mean heartless in the “soft” way. “Wah,” you Seahawk fans cry, “we won the west! What more do we have to prove?” Shut the hell up. Winning the NFC West (like winning the AFC West) this year was like winning Miss Congeniality at a pageant of autistic kids. If there’s a team in the playoffs playing with more “heart” than the Washington Redskins, I’d like for you let me know which team that is.

Winner: Washington

Jacksonville (11-5) at Pittsburgh (10-6), 8:00 EST: Though I like the Jaguars, that nasty ass Heinz field might be the big equalizer in this game. Luckily for the Jags, the Steelers will have to play on the same field as well. I’m seeing a reprise of the Miami vs. Pittsburgh game.

Winner: Jacksonville

Sunday:

New York Giants (10-6) vs. Tampa Bay (9-7), 1:00 EST: People always ask me why I’m so negative about the Giants even though I am so hopelessly devoted to them. It’s because as a fan I just can’t afford to let my expectations get too high. They’ve ruined me one too many times. They’re like that great guy you meet in the club who is full of potential and only after you get involved with him do you find out that he actually has terrible judgment, is immature and lazy, and an inveterate gambler, but you just can’t leave him because he’s so damn hot and he gives you affection.

Yeah…I’m that girl.

So my usually negative take on this game is that the Tampa defense will stifle Retardi Manning and Big Blue will once again ungracefully exit the playoffs.

However, I also have an unusually positive take that the Giants might have actually fortified by playing the Patriots hard last Saturday and gained some much needed momentum for Eli to finally…FINALLY…become a man.

Winner: Giants (but don’t tell anybody)

Tennessee (10-6) at San Diego (11-6), 4:30 EST: This is one hot mess of a game. I’d love the Titans if Albert Haynesworth was fully healthy. I’d love the Chargers if Norv Turner weren’t their coach. If Uncle Rico is out, Kerry Collins is one of the key players who has had some success in the playoffs but I’m still pissed at him for not winning the Super Bowl for the Giants seven years ago against the Ravens, so for that…

Prediction: San Diego

Please.

A coach should exemplify sportsmanship.  Bill Belichick does not.

The Coach of the Year should be the coach who made the most out of the least.  Bill Belichick winning Coach of the Year is like your richest, greediest girl friend being proclaimed as the one with best shoe collection.

And can somebody tell me why if the punishment for SpyGate was so severe that the Patriots were not penalized their HIGHER pick in the upcoming draft?

This is so gay.

The Patriots have finished the season 16-0, ending our regular season nightmare where we continued to speculate on ways they would get beat.

To do so though, they had to endure a close game in which Eli Manning almost…almost screamed, “Atari, bitches!” to became a man.  He led the Giants starters and they fought tooth and nail for three and a half quarters only to, in true Big Blue fashion, give up a 12-point lead to lose 38-35.

All the talk now is at what cost.  Kawika Mitchell, Shawn O’Hara, and Sam Madison were injured as a result of playing on Saturday and it is unclear if they will be available for the Giants wild card game against the Bucs.

As I have said, all this talk is ridiculous.  You know who I think the real loser here is?

The Patriots. Seriously.

Once again, it was proven that the Patriots are beatable IF you keep the game close by attacking the slow, aging linebackers in the middle through the first three quarters and then play strong, mentally strong football in the 4th quarter.

Easier said than done, to be sure but look at the Pats’ close calls this season: Philly lost the game because of A.J. Feely’s hubris, the Ravens lost because of frustration due to some ticky-tack calls, and The Giants, the only team to have made the playoffs, lost against the Pats because they just couldn’t outrun the fact that they’ve lead the league in mental errors since I’ve been alive.

Did the Giants have some sort of inherent responsibility to prove this?  No, of course not.  They had an inherent responsibility to try to win the game.  And while there are no moral victories in the NFL, the other playoff teams can rest easy knowing - once and for all - that though they are 16-0, the “Greatriots” are beatable.

Now will somebody please stand up and do the beating?

The time has finally come for the last round of Sunday Regular Season games. To all of our sports betting freaks out there who have followed us this year… THANK YOU! It’s been a great first year and we’re looking forward to the playoffs. The thing about this weekend that is such a pain in the ass is the Bullshit that comes out of these Head Coaches mouths. Sometimes they are saying they will play the game to Win and at other times they are talking about how they will have their starters out by the end of the first quarter. Some teams have nothing to play for and others are still fighting for that last playoff spot. In terms of sports betting this makes it a crapshoot trying to predict with any confidence who will cover and who will pack it in after the first series or two. I’m only going to have 2-3 Money Picks and I’ll be the first to say I don’t even like calling them that on this Final Sunday. My advice is to proceed with caution and place smaller wagers on most games than you normally would. The Playoffs start next weekend and those games are much better to get a payday than this Sunday will be. With that said let’s get to the picks.

Money Picks

1. Jags +6.5 @ Texans

The Jags don’t have anything to play for other than to stay on track and keep there confidence going. The Texans have been a trouble spot for the Jags the past few years and they would like to finish 8-8 in Matt Schaub’s first season as starter. My guess is the Jags are going to show up and with a touchdown to spare I like them.

TAKE THE JAGS +7. Buy the half point up to +7

2. Bengals -2.5 @ Dolphins

Bengals have too much firepower in the Florida Sun and despite Bill Parcells watching from the booth the Dolphins are too scared to drum up a game plan.

TAKE THE BENGALS -2.5

That’s it for the Money Picks boys and girls. Here is the Rest of the Bunch!

1. Pats -13 @ Giants

As of this posting time the game has been decided and the Pats are now 16-0, though they did not cover. Final score 38-35! Congratulations to Tom Brady, Randy Moss, and the Pats on their perfect regular season. I’m so glad Brady has the TD record and not that other Manning guy from Indy.

2. Bills +8 @ Eagles

TAKE THE EAGLES -8

3. Panthers -2.5 @ Bucs

TAKE THE PANTHERS -2.5

4. Lions +5 @ Packers

TAKE THE PACKERS -5

5. Saints -1.5 @ Bears

TAKE THE SAINTS -1.5

6. Seahawks pick @ Falcons

TAKE THE FALCONS

7. 49ers +12 @ Browns

TAKE THE BROWNS -12

8. Cowboys +9 @ Redskins

TAKE THE COWBOYS +9

9. Steelers -3 @ Ravens

TAKE THE STEELERS -3

10. Vikings -3 @ Broncos

TAKE THE VIKINGS -3

11. Chargers -8.5 @ Raiders

TAKE THE CHARGERS -8.5

12. Rams +6 @ Cards

TAKE THE CARDS -6

13. Chiefs +6 @ Jets

TAKE THE CHIEFS +6

14. Titans -4.5 @ Colts

TAKE THE TITANS -4. If you are going to play the Titans buy the half point down to -4 otherwise I would take the points and play the Colts. I know I’m going against the grain on this one, but it’s just a gut feeling that the Colts will play many of their Defensive Players well into the 3rd quarter. I took the Colts when they were at +6 early in the week, but now that they are only getting 4.5 I would lean towards buying the points on the Titans and taking a chance they will cover by 4.

So there you go Freaks. Enjoy the Circus that will show up tomorrow, because you know there will be some crazy surprises!

00a794.jpgWhile Alikat was boob slapping in her bikini in Hawaii, I was doing the same in America’s heartland on a farm, with a bunch of cows…in a bikini, because that’s just how I roll.

I love my little rural vacations because there’s no cell service, no internet, and the satellite TV goes in and out when there’s a bit of weather - and if you were following the news over the last week, there was quite a bit of “weather” in the Midwest - but 12 days is about my limit and I’m actually glad to be back in L.A. with a ton of emails and messages to delete.

Anyway, there were some games the last two weekends. Some teams won, other teams lost but the big news is that my fantasy football team chose our league’s Super Bowl to go absolutely cold. After a season average over 100 points, we scored 42 points in the big game!

The other big news is whether or not it is the Giants’ responsibility to field a their starters on Saturday against the Patriots in what amounts to a “meaningless” game for them.

What idiot came up with this debate?

Of course it’s the Giants responsibility to play their starters on Saturday against the Patriots. Forget that I bleed Big Blue and that I can’t stand the Pats. The Giants are a fucking professional NFL football team. It’s their job to win games, not rest for the playoffs. Football is a game of heart. Resting is heartless.

It’s not as if Eli and the G-Men are a sleek, offensive powerhouse clicking on all cylinders going into the playoffs and could stand having a week’s rest to regroup from the vicious regular season. They are a wild card team riddled with questions and led by the retarded Manning. They might be making the playoffs but this isn’t a Super Bowl team. The best thing for their playoff chances is to beat the Patriots, gain some confidence and momentum, both of which are incalculably advantageous going into the post season.

I haven’t done a study but I’ll bet you dollars to donuts that the convention of resting players going into the playoffs results in less playoff wins.

So please Tom Coughlin, please play the game on Saturday as if it means something because it does. It means that you’ve got some fucking stones. This is my hope.

However, my prediction is that you will not. You will rest the starters, the team will lose to the Pats, go on to lose in the wild card game and you will lose your job.

Just remember, it doesn’t have to be this way.

(In what could turn out to be an ironic twist to this story, the Patriots B Team beat the Giants 27-20 in the pre-season.)

Aloha and Happy Holidays to all you sports betting freaks! Just getting back into the grind of life back here in the mainland. I have 4 Money Picks for you tomorrow as the playoff picture continues to unfold. The NFC picture is crazy with the Redskins, Vikings, and Saints all fighting for the last position. The Packers and Cowboys are still battling it out for home field advantage and the Giants are, well the Giants. So here are the picks with very little breakdown talk, because I believe you all know these teams pretty well by now and I’m running late for a HOT DATE!

MONEY PICKS

1. Browns -2.5 @ Bengals

The Browns are going to pound it with Jamal Lewis and are on here to get into the playoffs. Too much offense and they have a little destiny working for them.

TAKE THE BROWNS -2.5

2. Giants -2.5 @ Bills

The Giants are a very strange team so you never know what you’re going to get, but this Sunday they NEED THIS GAME TO STAY OUT OF MURKY WATERS WITH THE 3 TEAMS I MENTIONED ABOVE IN THE NFC RACE.

TAKE THE GIANTS -2.5

3. Eagles +3 @ Saints

The Saints are playing for a playoff berth, but the Eagles would love nothing more than to blow that out of the water since that’s what the Saints did to them last year in the 1st round of the playoffs.

TAKE THE EAGLES +3

4. Texans +7 @ Colts

The Colts may not have a lot to play for, but they want to get on a roll and stay sharp. Being at home and with Peyton having a 10-1 record against the Texans I’m going with the home team.

TAKE THE COLTS -7

THE REST OF THE BUNCH

1. Packers -8 @ Bears

Let’s see… Favre vs Orton? Um, I’m going with the Hall of Famer.

TAKE THE PACK -8

2. Chiefs +4.5 @ Lions

Who Cares?

TAKE THE CHIEFS +4.5

3. Raiders +13 @ Jags

The Raiders hopefully will be getting their #1 pick some reps. The Jags still need to keep winning!

TAKE THE JAGS -13

4. Falcons +10 @ Cards

Again, who cares!

TAKE THE CARDS -10

5. Bucs -6 @ 49ers

The Bucs don’t have a whole lot to play for but they are going up against the 49ers. If this game was -7.5 I’d say go with the Niners, but it’s not so go with…

TAKE THE BUCS -6

6. Dolphins +22 @ Pats

TAKE THE PATS -22

7. Ravens +11 @ Seahawks

The Ravens are starting Troy Smith and are on the road without Ray Lewis and Samari Rolle. So I’ll go with…

TAKE THE SEAHAWKS -11

8. Jets +8.5 @ Titans

The Titans are still hanging on for a playoff spot. The Jets are looking for flight information for their vacations.

TAKE THE TITANS -8.5

9. Redskins +6.5 @ Vikings

This is the game of the day in the NFC. Playoff atmosphere with all the nation watching. I think Adrian Peterson is due for a breakout game and Clinton Portis will find out that you just can’t run on the Vikings D-Line.

TAKE THE VIKINGS -6.5. If this moves up to -7 I would pass on it!

10. Broncos +8.5 @ Chargers

The Chargers are rolling again despite L.T. not wanting to sit by his beloved QB. The Broncos are playing for next year. This game could be closer than most think, but in the end the Chargers have too much L.T.

TAKE THE CHARGERS -8.5

So enjoy the Holidays and we’ll see who’s for real and who’s just a pretender tomorrow.

To all of you sports betting freaks who thought I might have left the planet I, Alikat, am here to tell you I have returned from what C.J. was talking about… Boob Slapping or Fighting! Whatever your term of choice is, the fighting is amazing, especially when you are in Hawaii and doing it with Island type Girls! I learned how to surf, among other things, and had a tremendous time as I’m sure all you winter hugging bar types can imagine sitting there in Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis, New York, Buffalo, etc. I will be back tomorrow, don’t fear, with my picks for Sunday’s Games. Right now I can tell you that on Betonline.com they have a couple of GREAT LINES in regards to the Browns vs Bengals and Giants vs Bills games are concerned. Both have the favorites, this being the Browns and the Giants, favored by only -2.5 points. Most sportsbooks have both of these teams favored by -3 points! Both are still playing for playoff positioning and have a TON to LOSE if they don’t show up this weekend. My PLAY is to get to Betonline.com right now and place a bet on these two teams. They are both MONEY PICKS for me this weekend! So there you have it for the time being. My NICE BOOBS are recovering from MUCH PLAY in the Islands of Hawaii and I’ll be dressed up in Pajamas tonight going over the LINES and coming up with my picks for tomorrow. Go out tonight and drink up!

Happy Holidays!
