As some of you might remember, back on October 1st we announced our very first contest here at the sports betting blog, the prize being a 42″ Flat Panel HDTV. We were originally slated to announce the winner on November 1st, but due to a high volume of submissions (all of which had to be tracked by yours truly because people aren’t good at following exact rules and e-mailing you with some notification) we decided to extend the contest another half month just to make sure that everyone who entered was counted (also, the extra incoming links weren’t bothering anyone). I intended to post some notice about this earlier in the month (say, like oh, I don’t know, November 1st) but due to the viral nature of the thing, it took on a life of it’s own and more of my time was spent tracking incoming links then being able to blog about it. This actually proved to be a good lesson for next time as I learned contests for free HDTVs are things that don’t need to be over-promoted. Anyway…

With all that said, Maddy and I took all the blogs that entered, wrote their names on a piece of paper, put them in fishbowl and selected…(drumroll please)…

…the Johnny Hong Kong blog and his entry from October 15th.

We’ve sent an e-mail to “Johnny Hong Kong” and now all he has to do is e-mail us back. Congratulations to Johnny Hong Kong and we want to thank all who entered. You all made our first contest an overwhelming (literally) success.

I can’t stop thinking about Terrell Owens doing a Chris Crocker “Leave Donovan Alone” parody.  Imagine it:

(FADE IN:)

T.O. stands in front of a sheet.  The yellow lighting makes him look jaundiced.  A seething anger has been building behind usually playful eyes.  He is crying.

OWENS:  How friggin’ dare anyone out there make fun of Donovan after all he has been through?  He lost his ACL, he hurt his chest two years ago…he THREW UP IN THE SUPER BOWL!  His coach turned out to be a loser, whose kids have drinking problems, and McNabb doesn’t even have hardly any wide receivers!  All you people care about is…making money off of him.  HE’S A HUMAN!  (Quickly decompensating)  What you don’t realize is that Donovan is making you all this money and all you do is write a bunch of crap about him.  He hasn’t won a game in ten months!  He says Black quarterbacks get more criticism for a reason because all you people want is MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE.  (Raving) LEAVE HIM ALONE!  You are lucky he even plays for you BASTARDS!  LEEEAVE DONOVAN ALLLLLONE!…Please…he’s just having a hard time right now…leave Donovan McNabb alone.  Right now.  I mean it.  Anyone that has a problem with him, you deal with me beacuse he is not well right now.  Leave him alone!

And scene.

It would be the funniest damn thing ever, surely funnier than the legion of “Leave Britney Alone” parodies already out there. 

That’s it.  I’m officially removing our $20 contribution to Kissing Suzy Kolber’s Tom Brady bounty and offering it to T.O. for this “Leave Donovan Alone” parody. 

Please, T.O., do it.  You gotta have a webcam and internet access.  What the hell else are you doing?  You don’t even go to practice…or film study…

Do it for Donovan. 

Do it for yourself. 

Do it for humanity.

Since our little sports betting blog is still in its infancy, you’ll notice some changes going on here as we do some experimentation with the site. I received a few e-mails earlier this week when I removed the BoDog score board from our sidebar as apparently people enjoy viewing error code when they load a new blog in their browser. Don’t worry though - as soon as BoDog (excuse me, “NEW BoDog”) gets their shite together, we’ll have it back up and running.

In the meantime, however, there’s a new service called BlogRush which some of you - especially those of you who also have blogs, sports related or otherwise - might like to take advantage of. Basically, it helps to bring traffic to your site by publicizing your headlines on other blogs that share your same topic (for instance, sports betting). There’s a better video tutorial that explains it more fully than I just have and you can find it on their site, but…you get the jist. I figured we’d try it out here for a little while as our traffic levels are a little…what’s the word? ahh yes, “Non Existent” at this point in time. Hey, what can I tell you? We’re only three weeks old. Cut a girl some slack.

Whatever the case, for you sports betting die-hards who can’t get their up-to-the-minute news and insightful commentary from just one comprehensive blog, you might like to check out some of the other headlines that BlogRush has up. Enjoy!

Hey, boys.

Some of you may remember us from the beta run our little sports betting blog last year which unfortunately lasted only a mere eight weeks. The constant “show us your tits!” grew tiresome and we sort of petered out.

We didn’t know that 99% of the men who visit the internet are looking for hot chicks doing all manner of lascivious things (ie, porn). We seriously thought that the internet was made for searching for pictures of pretty ponies, playing online poker and getting no juice deals with online sports books.

We had no idea what we were getting into.

On the bright side, we were also visited by a growing number of men and women who dug what we were doing.

So we spent the offseason soul searching (and building a real blog) and we are proud to announce that we are back!

We’re back to bring the hotness back to NFL and sports betting for the 2007 season.

We’re back to bring the sexy back to sports commentary.

And most of all, we’re back to change the perception that sports betting is all about fat, ugly men who smoke cigars at the sportsbook in Vegas; sometimes its all about the hot chick in the black cocktail dress smoking a fine cigar dropping a grand on a team she’s followed, researched and maybe just has a feeling about, as AliKat has been wont to do on more than one occasion.

And this time, we’re here to stay.
