Sean Taylor, 1983-2007
A very sad story became unbelievably tragic early this morning when Redskins safety Sean Taylor passed away after being shot at his home early Monday morning. He was 24.
Doctors had been encouraged late Monday when Taylor squeezed a nurse’s hand, according to Vinny Cerrato, the Redskins’ vice president of football operations. But [Richard] Sharpstein said he was told Taylor never regained consciousness after being taken to the hospital, and he wasn’t sure how he had squeezed the nurse’s hand.
“Maybe he was trying to say goodbye or something,” Sharpstein said.
Needless to say, our thoughts go out to his family and the Redskins organization.
Here is the Washington Post’s coverage of the shooting and here is the Post’s timeline of Taylor’s career.
