I know I’m a couple of days late with this post Sports Betting Freaks. I guess I’m acting like my contractors working on my girly bathroom renovation who decided to not show up at all on Tuesday. The reason for their absence has ranged from a “24 hour drug binge” to “I just got caught up working at another chicks place and lost all track of time”. Hmm… I wonder if Madison is secretly doing a kitchen renovation I don’t know about. Just a little reminder for all you contractors out there that tune in to the site and love a little action on Sundays: Just because this stereotype of Contractors coming and going with out so much as a phone call seems to be true to form doesn’t make it right. At the very least, a Girl deserves to know why she is getting stood up! You know, we chicks can be very understanding if ya all just give us a call. Hell, I can even deal with the guy who has the balls to say “Um, I got really fucked up last night and I had a few beers for breakfast this morning, so I just don’t think you want me operating saws and hammers”! Anyhow, enough of my girly saga. On with the rest of the show…
How about them apples! Our Money Picks went 3-1-1! The grand total of the weekend was an excellent 8-5-1. I’ll take 75% on the Money Picks and 61% for the Junior Varsity Picks. As most of you know, we started a little pick’em contest with the readers over at The Fan Yard last week. From the looks of things they had 7 wins total, with the Giants covering for both of us on Monday Night. Pretty close! We’re going to be competing with them the rest of the year so sit back and enjoy the smackdown! I gotta say I like the way the readers get to chime in and work out the spread in their own unique fashion over there at thefanyard.com It’s kinda like how us girls get together and hash out all of our boyfriend troubles, eventually coming up with the Lines we’re going to use to wrap you guys around our fingers for the next week.
So far for the season we are 15-14-3 in our Money Picks. If you take away that ridiculous Week 1 debacle we are 14-11-1 for a consistent 56% in our Money Picks. We get better as the season rolls on. We have much more work to do, but that 60% milestone is right in front of us and we’re hot on it’s heels.
So far I’m not liking to much of the games coming up this Sunday. I do have my eyes on the Colts -3 @ Jaguars, Steelers -3.5 @ Broncos, Ravens -3 @ Bills, Bears +5 @ Eagles, and Bucs +2.5 @ Lions. I’ve got some more research to do, but I’ll be back tomorrow with My Picks for this Sunday.
In the meantime I have to go pick out the Tile for my bathroom. Anyone want to come help me?
Bet ya–

Wes–
Hey there stud! Our Money Picks vs other picks comes down to a few things: How willing you are to risk your money on a certain team given the handicapping you’ve done. ie: Some teams on a given week are just a much better team to invest in, just like some companies in the stock market at given times are better than others. For instance, buying Oil during the Bush administration would make a Money Pick vs Buying oil during a Al Gore administration. Many weeks there are a lot of trends and percentages pointing towards taking a certain team where as you have many other games that are virtually just a ‘Flip the coin’ type. Nothing is real positive towards taking them therefore you’re truly gambling vs something you feel you can count on returning your money.
Another way to look at it is if you have 2 brothers. Brother A is consistent with his repayments of debt and is overall a Winner more than a Loser. While Brother B gets behind a lot on his debts and his decision making is questionable. Now sometimes Brother B will make a splash and Win, but you’re better off risking your Money many more times on Brother A because he’s proven himself a consistent Winner over his life. Vince Young and Jeff Fisher are way above 60% Winners when they are the underdogs, therefore I will make them a Money Pick when I get them in that role. The Pats are historically good bets, especially when no more than 7 point favorites. Home underdogs with solid defenses are another example of probable Money Picks.
Thank you for checking into our site and the comment. I hope this answers your question and I will be writing a blog article on this subject in the next couple of weeks.
We were 2-1 in the Money Picks this past week and check out our picks for this coming week #8. Take care Wesley
