Da Bears are glad that the late, great comic Chris Farley isn’t around right now to make fun of all the Rex Grossman talk. I swear that kid is a walking soap opera. Sexy Rexy better get it right from the get go this season or I gotta feeling Lovie Smith will pull the plug on this kid half-way through the year.
Cedric Benson will take over full-time running duties now that former backfield mate Thomas Jones left for New York. I think the Bears shipped the wrong guy packing as Benson tends to get bogged down at the line of scrimmage quite a bit. I like that they drafted Greg Olsen whom I think will become a Jay Novacek type as his career progresses.
On defense we all know Da Bears have the best Cover 2 in the league. It’s hard not to when you have someone as fast as Brian Urlacher. He and Lance Briggs have so much speed and hitting ability it’s scary. Getting Mike Brown back and healthy will be a great boost for the Monsters of Midway.
I look at this team going far into the playoffs again. If Lovie can truly handle the Rex factor there is no reason, outside of injuries, that this team shouldn’t compete for the NFC Championship.
Oh by the way - I didn’t even mention they have the best Return Man since Billy “White Shoes” Johnson!
