Because we admit our mistakes, it bears mentioning again that last year, I predicted that with the signing of Daunte Culpepper, the Dolphins would make the playoffs and were my dark horse Super Bowl pick.
My bad.
While I like the Trent Green acquisition, I’m not making the same mistake this year.
New head coach Cam Cameron who got a lot of the credit for the Chargers offensive potency the last few years won’t have the same fire power in Miami. The newly revamped offensive line under standout coach Hudson Houck may spring some holes for Ronnie Brown but that doesn’t put him in the same league as LaDanian Tomlinson or the same planet…the good news is that they are in the same same solar system definitely.
Fans in South Beach is hoping that the line can keep Green on his feet long enough to help perennially underachieving wide receivers Chris Chambers and Marty Booker play up to their potential.
Cam Cameron showed good judgment by not tinkering with the defense at all as it remains a force. It may be a little long in the tooth but you can expect the D to keep games within reach. With defensive end Jason Taylor and a solid linebacking corps made up of folks like Joey Porter, Channing Crowder, and Zach Thomas, the ‘Fins look to strong up the middle and will be able to create pressure with the Dom Capers schemes.
